The International Standardization Forum for Safety, Health, and Well-being marks a groundbreaking initiative to address the evolving role of advanced technologies in the occupational safety and health (OSH) field. With rapid advancements in robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and other transformative technologies, it is essential to harness these innovations responsibly. This Forum will explore how international standardization can support the effective integration of these technologies into OSH management systems and align with global initiatives such as Vision Zero.
In an era where AI and robotics have become indispensable, crafting robust international rules is critical to ensuring these technologies enhance workplace safety and health. As of now, there are limited platforms dedicated to discussing how new technologies can shape global OSH standards and their implementation. By leveraging the platform provided by Expo 2025 in Japan, this event seeks to pioneer discussions on achieving safety, health, and well-being on a global scale.
Discussions have already begun with organizations like Germany's IFA and DGUV, which have led the way in international standardization and machinery and functional safety to explore, for example, the future direction of the innovative safety concept, Collaborative Safety. Bringing together experts from various fields around the world, the Forum aims to foster discussions on what international standardization is necessary for the future.
In Japan, the demographic challenges of an aging population and declining birthrate add urgency to reimagining OSH management frameworks. This unique environment demands innovative approaches that address the changing workforce landscape, and the Forum will serve as a vital platform to discuss these themes in depth.
The ultimate goal of this global initiative is to gather a diverse range of specialists, including technology experts, policymakers, and business leaders, to collaboratively define the international standards needed for a safer and healthier future.
Program details are under development, and we warmly encourage experts and stakeholders from around the world to join this landmark event. Together, we can shape the future of global standardization in OSH.
